Bi-Turbo

When Alpina pulled the covers off the B10 BiTurbo at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, it wasn’t just revealing a new car — it was announcing the most ambitious machine the Buchloe-based tuner had ever built. Based on the BMW 535i, the B10 BiTurbo was the result of two years of development and a R&D investment of $3.2 million. The payoff was a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre straight-six that would go on to be regarded as one of the finest turbocharged engines ever built.

Celebrated racing driver and journalist Paul Frère, writing in Road & Track in September 1991, was unequivocal: “For me this is the car … I think this is the best 4-door in the world.”

At 146,800 DM — nearly double the price of an E34 M5. This very car is number 128 of just 507 built and was ordered through Autohaus Bate KG in Hannover, Germany and invoiced on the 15th of November 1990. Ordered in 181 Diamantschwarz with Black leather BMW Sportseats that are heated and electrically adjustable. Furthermore Alpina floormats, Alpina 110 liter fueltank, ASC, Limited slip diff, Shadowline, electric sunroof, Automatic climate control, rear headrests and headlight cleaning.

After a long time of sitting un-used but stored dry, the car found it’s way to Oldenzaal Classics. We have restored this B10 Bi-Turbo to it’s former glory. That meant completely disassembling the vehicle and preparing it for a complete repaint. It’s a beautifuly straight body and was only painted on the outside – This was done excellent. A beautiful finish. The door-insides, engine-bay and trunk wear their factory paint. 

It was then assembled with the greatest care and lots of new parts. All new lower black-trim, new kidney grilles, Alpina frontspoiler, fresh and clear headlights, foglights, polished taillights, new emblems and so forth. The wheels have been refurbished, fitted with new emblems and new tyres. The typical Alpina striping ‘Deko Satz’ was then profesionally installed making it look like a true Alpina again.

The interior of this B10 is a great place to be and offers true 90’s luxury and tech. Beautifully supple, original leather in fantastic condition was properly cleaned and preserved – the E34 had a quality of leather that we unfortuneatly don’t see anymore. It has the correct Alpina instrument cluster with extra instrument to check oil pressure, temperature and turbo pressure. It has the Turbo-boost knob, the Alpina plaque, the beautiful wooden shifter and a lovely new set of Alpina floormats. The headliner was reupholstered in black and looks excellent. Original Alpina decals in the doorjambs, lovely original Alpina woodtrim, leather Alpina steering wheel. The A/C system was restored and cools perfectly. 
Technically the car was completely gone through, recommissioned, serviced and it received everything it needed. The car is a true joy to drive – very fast, yet comfortable. As an Alpina should be. Flawless paint on the outside, beautiful original leather on the inside – technically up to date. 

The car received all new fluids, filters, sparkplugs and ingition parts. Set up correctly, new fuel lines, fuel pressure regulator, belts and much more. 
The braking system was rebuilt – Rebuilt Alpina 4-pot calipers, new rotors, new pads, new master cylinder and new brakefluid. The car has it’s original Alpina exhaust system and runs and sounds stock – as it should be.
The car comes with the certifcate from Alpina Classic as well as the original invoice from new. Documenting originality of model, colours, engine. One of the very few B10 Bi-Turbo’s left on the market and certainly the best one available now.
