‘It’s four cars in one’

That is how Baur advertized it’s popular TC ‘Topcabriolet’ based on the ever-famous E30 3-series. Baur pointed out the car having 2 separate detachable roofs: which gives 4 possibilities of driving this piece of pure 80’s Car Culture. Baur TC E30’s have a very big plus: Yes, it’s an open Convertible car, but also has the rigidity in the body that the BMW-Cabriolet lacks. The car drives as great as a closed E30 does: but roofless!

Until the E30 325i came to market in 1985 the 323i was the quickest E30 around. This 1984 323i was produced by BMW in Polaris Silver and then sent over to Karosserie Baur in Stuttgart for its Baur treatment. It was delivered new to Sweden via Förenade Bil Import in Malmö, Sweden and first registered on the 15th of October 1984. Ordered new in 060 Polaris Silver, tinted windows, Marine Blue Velours interior and a 5-speed manual. It has the factory leather sports steering wheel and the factory 14” Bottlecap wheels. 

This very car was only driven from 1984 up to 1990 – 6 years. As documented by the service book; it had a service in January of 1990 at 67.768 kilometers and in November of that year at 84.191 kilometers. The swedish technical inspection (Bilprovning) underlines this. Checked in March ’90 at 72.000 km’s and in November with 83.883 km’s. Last inspected in 1990 and hasn’t been on the road ever since.

Now, in 2024 we are 40 years and only 90.196 kilometers further. It’s a beautifully original non-restored the car. It mainly wears original paint. It has never been welded and is wearing all original bodypanels. The paint is free of any usermarks and the body is very straight. Original fenders, doors and perfect sills and jack-points. 

In the trunk its shows original and clean, including a never-mounted spare tire. The set of tools is present and complete. The detachable roof can be stored in the trunk. Both roofpanels are in great condition. The correct and original sonnenland fabric is in good condition. The rear window is nice and clear.

The same goes for the engine bay: all original. No rust, all original paint and decals. The M20 engine runs nice and quiet. The timing belt has been replaced here in the workshop along with a new waterpump, thermostat and much more –  now the car is fault-free and ready to enjoy. It shifts through the gears with great ease. 

The interior hardly shows any signs of wear. A nice dashboard and centerconsole without usermarks. The car comes with a Swedish registration, The E30 Usermanual, The Baur TC usermanual. Complete set of tools, un-used sparewheel and jack
