BMW’s fuel-injected Grand Tourer:

This BMW three liter Coupe is a factory 3.0 CSi. It was produced by BMW in Bavaria on the 10th of September 1973 and was delivered to BMW Importer of the Netherlands: Alimpo NV in The Hague. The car was ordered in 037 Fjord over a blue interior and was first registered on the 31st of October 1973. It’s last owner had the car for a long time: from 1992 up to 2014. Over the past years it was subject to a very extensive restoration. Now in it’s done, tested, detailed and ready for its now owner. 48 years old and as fit as in ’73.

The car was recently professionally restored; From A to Z. Very extensively, professionally and correct. The car was stripped, taken to bare metal and completely and repainted on the outside, inside, trunk and engine-bay. A nice and solid body with proper shutlines in it’s factory color. The doors, fenders and trunk nicely fit and line-up. The engine-bay is solid and correct. The chrome trim around the body has been restored and looks amazing on the shiny paint. The same goes for the bumpers: they were re-chromed and fitted with new rubbers. The optional green-tinted windows have been refitted with restored trim and new rubbers. The taillights are in beautiful restored condition and the headlights were replaced. The grilles on the fenders and hood we’re replaced with new. Everything on and around the car is either new or restored and nothing was forgotten.

The engine-bay of this E9 looks spectacular. New Fjord blue paint, the correct mats and correct decals. The bodywork is in great shape. It has it’s original, matching numbers 3.0L engine which has been rebuilt during restoration. The engine runs lovely: smooth idle, smooth on revs, silent and powerful. Ofcourse all new ignition parts, tested injectors, reworked fuel-system, cooling system with new hoses and rebuilt starter and alternator.

During the restoration the car was put in a rolling cart, the suspension removed. The suspension was all powdercoated and put together with new bushings, re-plated hardware, new shocks, bearings and re-done swaybars. It has new brake hoses, rebuilt calipers, new brakelines, new handbrake cables, rebuilt master cylinder, new brakefluid. It’s too much to mention. The car was properly restored: both cosmetical as technical. 

The same goes for the inside. The seats and rear seat have been reupholstered beautifully in navy leather that match the doorpanels. Note that the seat hinges even were re-chromed. The dashboard was restored as well as the wood trim. The inside of the car was painted as well and on top are insulation mats and new set of carpetting. A brand new headliner was installed and even the sunvisors were reupholstered. A brand new Nardi wheel was installed. The doorpanels have been restored with new vinyl and the chrome-trim has been polished which looks amazing with the redone wood, the same goes for the center console.

The trunk was restored to perfection. All panels in the trunk have been restored in the correct grey vinyl. Also the covers over the wheel-housings have been replaced. The spare-wheel is restored and has a new tire, a repainted jack and a complete set of tools in the trunk!
