The E9 Coupe in the ultimate color:

This BMW three liter Coupe is an early 3.0 CS. It was produced by BMW in Bavaria in mid 1971 and was delivered to BMW of Italy in Palazzolo, Northern Italy. The car was ordered in 085 Chamonix and was sold new in Rome on the 16th of August 1971. Delivered new to a certain Mr. Adeponte. Only in 2020 the car switched owner: Mr. Ercoli from the Varese area bought the car and started the restoration. The car had been parked for years but showed a very healthy body and original running gear. 

The car was recently professionally restored. The work was done very extensively, professionelly and correct. The car was repainted in 070 Golf Yellow – one of the most sought after colors. The car was stripped completely and repainted on the outside, inside, trunk and engine-bay. A nice and solid body with proper shutlines. The doors, fenders and trunk nicely fit and line-up. The engine-bay is solid and correct. The chrome trim around the body was replaced with new and looks amazing on the shiny paint. The same goes for the bumpers: they were re-chromed and fitted with new rubbers. The green-tinted windows were replaced: nice, fresh and scratch-free. Fitted in new rubbers and polished trim. The taillights are in beautiful condition and the headlights were replaced. The grilles on the fenders and hood we’re replaced as well. All in all: the car really stands out and look fresh.

The engine-bay of this E9 looks spectacular. New Golf yellow paint, the correct mats and correct decals. The innerfenders are in original condition body-wise. It has it’s original, matching numbers 3.0L engine which has been rebuilt during restoration. The engine runs lovely: smooth idle, smooth on revs, silent and powerful. The carburators were overhauled and correctly tuned for cold-start, idle and power. There was a lot of effort and parts put into this car during the restoration, more on that below.

During the restoration the car was put in a rolling cart, the suspension removed. The suspension was all powdercoated and put together with new bushings, re-plated hardware, new shocks, bearings and re-done swaybars. It has new brake hoses, rebuilt and re-plated calipers, 4 new brake rotors. New brakelines, new handbrake cables, rebuilt master cylinder, new brakefluid. It’s too much to mention. The car was really properly restored: both cosmetical as technical.

The same goes for the inside. The seats and rear seat have been reupholstered beautifully in black leather that match the doorpanels. The dashboard was reupholstered and the wood was refinished. The car got a new set of a carpets and a new headliner was installed. A brand new Nardi wheel was installed. The center-console remains in excellent original condition.

The trunk was restored as well. The panels were reupholstered in the correct grey vinyl. The toolset is complete and even has the BMW cloth and the valve adjustment tool present – extremely rare. It shows the original spare, jack and tool.

The car has been restored extensively and checked, tested and finished by us recently. Only 200 kilometers since restoration and engine rebuild. The restoration contained the following:

  • Rebuilt re-plated brake calipers 4x
