Amazing time capsule ’02

A mint condition BMW 1602 now available. This 1602 was produced on the 28th of October ’72 and delivered to BMW of Italy on the 2nd of November of that year. The car comes with the original ‘Libretto’ (Registration) from day one which reveals quite a bit of it’s history. First registered on the 28th of November to Mr. Corona (born 1945) from Pordenone, near Venice, Italy. He was the one and only registered owned of this 1602 – a one owner BMW 1602 from 1972! Mr Corona bought his car in 037 Fjord Blue and took great care of it and driving only 97.000 kilometers. Last year the car has been restored and rebuilt including a complete repaint and rebuild of the engine. Now available is a mint condition BMW 1602 from single ownership with complete history.

The complete picture file of the restoration is present, also showing the car before restoration. What we see is an original, rust-free, and un-damaged 1602 that obviously sat parked for a number of years give the dust on it. The only signs of wear is the cloth in the interior. 

The car was taken apart for a very high quality restoration – obviously a lovely job with such a great base-car that doesnt require any repairs or bodywork. The car was repainted completely in its factory Fjord Blue. The front and rear axle have been removed as well as engine and transmission for major recommissioning. The matching numbers engine has been rebuilt with new pistonrings, rebuilt head and new gaskets. The transmission was re-sealed as well as the differential. The braking system is rebuilt and fitted with new parts such as rotors, pads, lines etc. The front and rear axle have been repainted and rebuilt. The pedal-box was rebuilt as well as the steering rack. It shows new tie-rods, a new exhaust, a new set of coolant hoses, new thermostat, waterpump, filters, fuelhoses, battery, clutch cylinders and more.
The body is super straight with perfect panelgaps, the paintjob is exceptional and the chrome is in excellent condition. Nice bright headlights, taillights and beautiful brightwork all around. Beautifully straight bumpers with great chrome.
The interior also received lots of love. The seat and rear-seat have been reupholstered with original BMW material. The set of carpets has been replaced and the rest is in excellent original condition. A perfect 2-piece dashboard, beautiful doorpanels and original 3-spoke steering wheel. 

The trunk was repainted in Fjord as well and after that all original trim was put back in. Jack and tool present as well as the spare. The car sists on a set of Italian market 13′” with new Uniroyal tires.

After we have bought the car we have gone through it and did the last finishing touches. In short; Exhaust silencer, center driveshaft bearing, gearbox mounting rubber, pitman arm bushings, front inner suspension bushings, plastic exhaust suspension bushings, blinker relay, clutch cylinder, v-belt and countless other tweaks and things to make sure it functions and drives as should.

A BMW 1602 in a fantastic condition. A restoration that was cost-prohibitive by all means. A needs nothing example in a mint condition that is hardly seen. 

Now ready for the next 51 years. 100% serviced and ready to be enjoyed!
