Carabinieri Alfetta 2,0LÂ
On sale is a genuine Carabinieri (Italian Military Police)Â Alfetta 2,0 liter from 1979.
This very car wore Carabinieri numberplate EI(for government)-675AN and was in service in the Tuscany, Italy area. We have a 1984 photo of this car: EI-675-AN at the Command station in Montemurlo, Tuscany. We have a 1996-dated letter from the Carabinieri of Tuscany stating that this Alfetta 2.0 with VIN 0054318 received a repair order.Â
This car is from 1979 and after a career with the Tuscany Carabinieri the car was sold at auction and registered on Civilian plates. Later on the car came into the hands of the President of the National Carabinieri Association as well as the ‘Club Lampeggiante Blu’ / ‘Club of the blue fashing lights’ – A club keeping historical Italian police cars alive. He had the car restored to it’s former Carabinieri glory with original parts and accesories of the time. The car features the original siren/horn, blue flashing lights as well as the search-light. Original livery was put on after the new paintjob. Genuine VP-450 Radio with handset as well as a support for the Beretta PM12 submachine gun.
The Alfetta was used by the Italian military, police and Carabinieri in large quantities. Either as public Police/Carabinieri cars or used for local forces and in some cases ‘guised’ as a normal Alfetta. That was the case with this very Alfetta. Some of them were not in the Italian Automobile Registry and used Civilian numberplates to cover the identity during the days of fighting against Mafia and Terrorism. Some cars were first used without livery and may have received it later on when the car’s ‘Undercover’ days were over and ‘normal’ police work was on.Â
The car received a light restoration by the Club in Italy. It was nicely repainted in its AR343 ‘Blu Olandese’ dark blue color. The paint has a deep shine and looks beautiful. The wheels were refinished and new tyres were mounted. It has the correct 2,0 liter, twin-cam ‘Nord’ engine. Insiders say the Polici/Carabinieri cars were always a little faster than the civilian cars. It features a better flowing exhaust manifold and has an electric fan instead of a belt-driven fan. The sound of the twin-cam 4 cylinder breathing through twin DHLA40 Dell’Orto carburators is beautiful. It handles great thanks to 4 new shock absorbers.
In 2023 the car was imported into the Netherlands by Ferrari Munsterhuis and the car now available on behalf of the owner.
